Even though I have been aware of the London-based clothing label Erdem for years now, it was just a few weeks ago that for the first time ever, I spotted a piece that immediately caught my attention and triggered my personal jump into the Erdem universe: A silk dress with a riffled collar and beautiful sequin coy fish with bright red lips all over it.
In light of Erdem Moralioglu’s own appearance – on most photos of him he wears classic, dark clothes or suits with bow ties – I somehow find it amusing and invigorating that some of his collections, while still classy in their shapes, actually look like color explosions: The used fabrics of some of the dresses reminded me of an artist’s palette after they finished painting a crazy, vibrant, surrealistic work. I really wonder what this guy's home looks like.
All these grey winter days behind and ahead of us definitely make me crave more color for my own wardrobe. If I already must suffer from vitamin D3 deficiancy, I am at least allowed to give in the desire to lift my mood again by looking at cheerful clothes. And “looking” is obviously a euphemism from the perspective of my wallet here, since I already found a few pieces that might soon be on the exact page where I click “add to basket”. ;) Erdem is pretty pricey, but I found quite a few beautiful Erdem pieces on Vestiaire Collective, a platform where you can buy new and second-hand designer clothes and accessoires for a fraction of the original price. These are my favorite picks:
Below you find a selection of Erdem's Pre-Spring, Spring Summer, and Pre-Fall Collection 2017. He seems to be in a romantic mood this year - less flashy colors, more lace and ruffles.
